ARCHITECTURE

This architectural project presents a bold, modern addition with soft, flowing edges that intentionally challenges its rigid surrounding environment. This contrast is fundamental to the project’s identity, introducing a sense of fluidity and organic form into a dense urban grid.

With the client acquiring a new plot of land directly in front of their existing property, the site naturally became two-layered and terraced. The new building is designed to interpret and exploit this topography, functioning not just as a distinct structure, but as a habitable, terraced extension of the existing upper land.

FACADE DETAILS

The façade is defined by fluid language, characterized by deep horizontal bands with soft, rounded corners that wrap around the building’s volume. These cantilevered floor plates create a sense of weightlessness. By avoiding sharp angles and rigid lines, the façade acts as a soft architectural gesture that contrasts with the surrounding stiff environment, while the integrated glass balustrades ensure that the panoramic views remain.

3D MODEL

This axonometric 3D model illustrates the topographical evolution of the site, showcasing how the architecture adapts to a challenging, landscape. The animation highlights the transition from a vacant, sloped terrain to a fully integrated residential extension, where the new building volumes act as a series of stepped terraces that bridge the elevation gap between the upper and lower plots. By breaking the massing into fluid, horizontal layers with soft edges, the model demonstrates a strategy of topographic continuity, where the roof of the new structure effectively becomes an accessible outdoor garden for the existing land above.
