ARCHITECTURE

The architecture of this resort complex in Shaori, Racha, is a modern translation of the nearby villages with wooden houses. Designed as a cluster of individual, high-pitched volumes, the project avoids the visual weight of a single massive hotel, instead mirroring the scattered, organic layout of a traditional mountain settlement. This decentralized approach is a strategic action, allowing for a flexible, phase-by-phase construction process where separate buildings can be completed and operated independently. Each unit is precisely oriented to capture the views of the Shaori Lake and the surrounding mountain peaks, with large, floor-to-ceiling glass.

CONCEPT

The concept for the Shaori Resort was born from settlement patterns found in the traditional villages of the Racha region. By observing how mountain dwellings naturally design a dynamic layering of rooftops and geometries. The architecture is not treated as a single building, but as a “re-interpreted village” where the roof of one unit aligns with the ground level of another, mirroring the cascading landscape of the nearby hills.

FACADE DETAILS

The seamless integration of minimalist glass railings and large-format glazing ensures that the boundary between interior and the exterior landscape is virtually invisible, resulting in a façade that is both thermally efficient and visually harmonized.

3D MODEL

This diagram view emphasizes the project’s core goal: a modular, scalable retreat that provides high-end privacy while remaining deeply connected to the natural topography and context. By visualizing the resort as a cluster of individual volumes rather than a single mass, the model demonstrates a clear logic for flexible, phase-by-phase development. Each building is stepped along the natural contours, creating a rhythmic “rooftop landscape” that ensures every unit maintains an unobstructed view of the lake and mountains.
